Sun care nøytraliserer skadelige UV-stråler. Før, under og etter soleksponering jobber solfiltrene og antioksidantene i synergi for å beskytte huden mot UVA og UVB stråler. Vitamin A i ditt daglige hudpleieprogram fra Environ vil øke solbeskyttelse din betraktelig.
WHAT IS IT AND WHAT DOES IT DO?
You can’t hide from the sun, but you can reduce its effects on the skin. Environ’s Even More Sun
Care+ Range is a highly specialised Range of products containing an effective combination of
sunscreens and powerful antioxidants that work together to safely and effectively protect the skin.
RAD Antioxidant Sun Cream, the world’s rst antioxidant enriched sunscreen was originally
launched in 1990. This iconic product has enjoyed a loyal global following and is now available with
an upgraded formulation.
Environ’s sunscreen philosophy is based on: RAD
REFLECT: the harmful UV rays away from the skin
ABSORB: and neutralise the UV rays that do manage to enter the skin
DEFEND: against the effects of harmful free radicals that are formed in the skin
GENERAL SUNSCREEN INFORMATION
INORGANIC (PHYSICAL) SUNSCREENS
Environ believes in using higher doses of effective physical reective sunscreens.
Titanium Dioxide mineral is an example of a physical sunscreen that
has a high refractive index; reecting and scattering light, preventing it
from reaching the skin and causing damage.
ORGANIC (CHEMICAL) SUNSCREENS
Environ believes in using lower doses of absorbent chemical sunscreens.
Organic sunscreens on the other hand work by absorbing UV light before causing damage.
ANTIOXIDANTS AS SUNSCREENS:
Environ believes in using high doses of protective antioxidants.
Antioxidants are effective in preventing free-radical damage due to daily environmental stress and
UV exposure. They are effective in neutralising the free-radical chain reactions and slowing down
free radical activity before damage is done to the skin.
Various antioxidants are required for different metabolic systems. The best protection comes from
having as many different free radical scavengers as possible. The combination of Vitamin C,
Vitamin E and Beta-Carotene is known as Environ’s free radical scavenging system, protecting both
the water-based and oil-based phases of the skin.
WHAT THE SKIN NEEDS PROTECTION AGAINST?
BROAD SPECTRUM
Broad spectrum is a term that refers to a sunscreen’s ability to protect the skin from both UVA and
UVB rays. UV radiation has broad spectrum, ranging from 40 to 400nm which is divided into
Vacuum UV (40–190nm), Far UV (190–220nm), UVC (220–290nm), UVB (290–320), and UVA
(320–400nm), of which the latter two are important.
There are two distinct subtypes of UVA radiation. Short-wave UVA (320–340nm) and long-wave
UVA (340–400nm), the latter constituting most of UVA radiation. The amount of exposure to UVA
usually remains constant, whereas UVB exposure occurs more in the summer. The effects of UVA
exposure usually manifest after a long duration of exposure, even if doses are low. UVA radiation
damages skin by penetrating into the deeper layers of skin, producing reactive
oxygen resulting in acute and chronic changes.
Only products that meet the regulatory standard for effective protection against
UVA will carry the UVA seal.
UVB radiation can also cause acute changes, such as pigmentation and sunburn, and chronic
changes, such as immune-suppression and photo carcinogenesis.
Both UVA and UVB radiation can cause sunburn, photoaging, erythema and inammation.
UVB protection is measured by a product's SPF rating only. SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor.
The number tells you how long the sun’s UVB rays will take to redden your skin if you apply the
sunscreen exactly as directed compared with the same amount of time without sunscreen.
WHO SHOULD USE IT?
The products are suitable for everyone over 6 months of age, for use on skin of all ages and for all
skin types and conditions.
RAD Antioxidant Sun Cream may be preferred by consumers who prefer a product with a
moisturising, creamy texture.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
• Titanium Dioxide: Is an inert mineral used as a sunscreen ingredient in cosmetics. It is
scientically proven to protect the skin from UVA and UVB radiation. Because its gentle,
titanium dioxide is a great sunscreen active for sensitive, redness-prone skin. It’s great for use
around the eyes, as it is highly unlikely to cause stinging. Titanium dioxide is typically micronised
(nano) and coated for use in cosmetics products. The micronising makes this somewhat
heavy-feeling ingredient easier to spread on skin, plus a bit more cosmetically elegant.
Micronised titanium dioxide is photostable and can provide better sun protection than
non-micronised titanium dioxide.

• Octocrylene: Today octocrylene is one of the most common molecules included in sunscreens. It
provides photostable, broad spectrum photoprotection for the skin from UV-A and UV-B
radiation.

• Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane: A sunscreen ingredient that provides sun protection by
absorbing aging UVA rays. It is one of the most widely used UVA lters in the world and has been
rigorously tested for safety and efcacy.
To increase its photostability, UV absorbers such as octocrylene often accompany this sunscreen
in a cosmetic formula. Antioxidants (such as vitamin E) also show promise for enhancing its
photostability.

• Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C): Form of vitamin C that is considered stable and is
an effective antioxidant for skin. This form of vitamin C is also known to increase skin’s hydration
levels as well as being effective for calming factors in skin that can lead to excess oil and signs of
sensitisation.

• Tocopherol (Vitamin E): In animals, a topical application of tocopherol has been shown to exert
photoprotective effects by reducing the number of sunburnt cells, reducing ultraviolet B
(UVB)-induced damage and inhibiting photo carcinogenesis.

• Beta-Carotene: Carotenoids are known to be powerful antioxidant substances playing an essential
role in the reactions of neutralisation of free radicals (mainly reactive oxygen species ROS).
Carotenoid molecules present in the tissue can neutralise several attacks of free radicals,
especially ROS, and are then destroyed. Human skin contains carotenoids, such as α-, γ-,
β-carotene, lutein, zeaxanthin, lycopene and their isomers, which serve the living cells as a
protection against oxidation.

This lightweight, creamy sunscreen helps to protect the skin against the damaging effects of UV
and free radicals with broad spectrum sun protection and a rich dose of antioxidants.
• Apply liberally and evenly to the face, neck and body before sun exposure.
• Reapply frequently, every 1 ½ to 2 hours, to maintain protection, especially after perspiring,
swimming or towelling.
SUNSCREEN WARNING:
It is not advisable to stay in the sun for too long, even whilst using a sunscreen. Too much sun
exposure causes skin damage. Reducing the quantity of sunscreen applied will lower your
protection significantly. Keep babies and children out of direct sunlight at all times.
WARNING:
If any irritation is experienced, discontinue use. Consult a skin care professional and/or physician,
if the irritation persists. Avoid contact with the eyes. If accidental contact occurs, rinse carefully
with tepid water. Avoid if any know allergies to the ingredients exist.
